this last week and a half has been pure craziness.
it started with a trip to the outer banks with jess. hanging out with her family was awesome- i am in love with her dad. and her mom- they can adopt me anytime. last night there= madness with some wild irish rose. Brian and Chas's idea of a good time is buying the cheapest stuff they can find and drinking it. a mess.
after the outer banks it was a few days of getting reoriented to the biggest test of my life- followed by the mcats. it was what it was- an 8 hour exam that was incredibly taxing. i'm so glad its done. I saw sarah on the way to the exam in the morning- that was fun- she looks great!
after the mcats it was grotto's for 6 hours, quick stop at stevie's and then dance party til 4 am at james's. woke up with more bruises and a cut but hey- it was a GREAT time.
woke up the next morning (way to early ) and headed down to richmond for liz's 21st. more awesome times.
and now its back to reality. lots of cleaning/organizing to accomplish in the next few days. oh and writing a personal statement. because i feel like doing that.
anyway, that's what i've been up to lately for those of you that care. later :) |

so bensalem was tonight. i had a good time, i enjoyed most of the shows. the 14 year olds behind us who were explaining drum corps to our entire section were a crew that i could've lived without but it was fun. Everyone I saw i enjoyed.
it made me miss stuff. its hard to discuss that with people.
i saw all the crossmen kids, rachael, kevin, kelly, jason, michael, cromwell, jon kramer, jeremy,the mckeemans, and alex waite, and others. i was glad to hear that ridley was going ok (although my convo in the stands with the drum kid was weird)
now its bed time. maybe work will happen tomorrow. we'll see. |

So I was reading my lj before work this morning (which i always do b/c i try to delay the start of my work day as much as possible) and i see kate's entry about kevin on dci.org. I go and check it out and get all excited (b/c i haven't actually talked to him in a couple weeks and i'm a giant dork) So then i call him- planning to just leave a voicemail and get to work relatively on time... and he's there! so we chat for a little while (making me later and later) and i mention how i can't go to allentown (still pissed by the way) and he mentions the bensalem show. which i can actually go to.
so the question is: does anyone want to come with me to the bensalem show? its august 2nd. i'll drive i don't really care. lemme know.
ok its time to take my overcaffienated self and get back to work. later. |

1) Don't run around outside in 100 degree whether during your lunch break when you have a meeting right after it.
2) Don't volunteer to be a subject for a study... ever.
3) When you work in the lab, be prepared for all temperatures. (cause they like to turn the air off for kicks)
That's all i've got so far. But its only Tuesday. ;)

so trying to waste time at the end of a super mundane work day is my new favorite activity.
Today i: taped markers onto lisa
cut wraps to the appropriate length (i <3 the tape measure)
cleaned up after the data collection
LUNCH
copy/paste
label
repeat
get instructions for more copy/pasting
waste time
this was my day- i hope yours was more fun.
in other news the mcat class has started and i'm officially starting to go crazy. good thing the test is in 2 months. i can really handle another 2 months of this stressfulness. really i can.

| i'm a big girl |

so my first summer of big girl work (and really my first paying gig outside of the marching world since '01) started this week. Its been ok. I got up every day at 7:30 to run (yes run) and then worked 9-5. I'm actually here right now (sssshhh don't tell anyone)
anyway- its ok. running is not fun- but my goal is to get skinny so i have to do something for it. So far this research thing has consisted of sitting in meetings and processing data. and by processing i mean copy/paste and occassionally multiplying.
jess and alexis are here in de, with nothing to do. but they're there to entertain me after work which is a good thing. we went to dinner with mr. spina (alexis's dad) last night and that was enjoyable. I think i walked right past sarah on the way home and didn't realize it 'til later. That's interesting.
Anyway I should get back to my data processing. Those numbers aren't just going to copy/paste themselves!

no one has updated in a while and its making me sad. at first i thought it was my lj b/c it likes to not refresh the page until i push refresh 100 times. but today i think its for real... its really making my procrastination more difficult.
1 final today
2 finals next wednesday
and that's about it.
summer research starts 5/30.
i think i'm actually going home after finals. that should be weird considering i haven't spent more than 3 nights at home since last summer.
and i'm out.

ok so my 6 things are way behind the times but i haven't updated in a while and hey~ better late than never.
1) I have a recently retouched picture of my grandpa next to my computer on my desk. he's young, in a suit, next to some old school car. It reminds me every day of the things he valued and makes me want to be a better person. And to stop getting fresh with people all the time.
2) My summer is shaping up to be the worst/most productive summer ever. I'm going to make more money than I ever have... EVER, but i'm going to be busier than ever. I'll have a 9-5 "job" (its research but i'm getting paid and i have to be there), an mcat class, volunteering, teaching, a job poss., and the mcats looming over my head. should be good times.
3) Whatever problems I have with a certain roommate of mine, this has been the best year ever. I feel like I've tried to appreciate things outside of guard more, and that has helped me appreciate my time in guard more.
4) I have no reason to go home this summer. None of my friends will be there and my brother doesn't live there anymore. Its a sad thing to realize that my parents just aren't enough to make me go home.
5) My brother's getting married. MARRIED. I love Jenn, but part of me is sad about this. He's MY brother. And I've never really been that good at sharing.
6) My brother's upcoming nuptuals have made me very conscious of my own future and I've been trying very hard to figure it out. Whatever happens, I like the direction I'm going in, and I love the people around me.
So those are my 6. I don't know if I really fit the theme but i shared so its all good I suppose.
This weekend is Wildwood. I'm ready for some great times. |

so about a month ago i guess i was at chi with kevin and cindy helping out. one of the girls asked me if cindy was my best friend. totally thrown off guard by this for some reason i sat around and thought about it and it occurred to me. miss cindy lew- the biggest lesbian i know- is my best friend. so here's a show out to you lew- i love you! (and not just cause you're a lesbian) :) |
